The HII Scholarship Fund was established in 2016 and is funded primarily by HII President and CEO Mike Petters declining his annual salary, all but for $1. Since its establishment, the Huntington Ingalls Industries Scholarship Fund has awarded or renewed more than 980 scholarships totaling more than $2 million.

Early Childhood Education Scholarships
Early childhood education scholarships of up to $3,000 are awarded for children enrolled in pre-kindergarten school readiness programs. The goal is to award 50 new scholarships each year.
Post-Secondary Education Scholarships
Post-secondary education scholarships of up to $1,500 are awarded to dependent children enrolled in two-year degree programs and up to $3,000 for dependent children enrolled in four-year degree programs. The goal is to award 50 new scholarships each year. Post-secondary education scholarships are renewable for students who remain in good academic standing.

Program Information
The Huntington Ingalls Industries Scholarship Fund is for dependent children of eligible HII employees enrolled in post-secondary college education (two- or four-year programs) and pre-kindergarten school readiness programs. It is administered by Scholarship America.
Children of all HII employees are eligible to apply, with the exception of children of senior executives and those employees who have been with the company for less than two years. The selection process is independent of HII and based on both scholarship and financial need. No employee or officer of HII will play a part in the selection process.
