At HII, we believe education is the foundation of our nation’s security. We proudly support a variety of early education initiatives; STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) projects at elementary, middle and high schools; and two- and four-year college programs that support our workforce development needs. We also offer the HII Scholarship Fund. Since its establishment in 2016, the fund has awarded 766 scholarships totaling over $2 million, including more than 221 awards for pre-K education programs.

Newport News Shipbuilding employee mentors and middle school students who participate in SEEKnns’ Girls with Engineering Minds in Shipbuilding program visited the Brooks Crossing Innovation Lab in March (prior to COVID-19 restrictions).


Prior to COVID-19 restrictions, teachers representing schools in Mississippi and Alabama were awarded more than $99,000 in grants from Ingalls Shipbuilding to implement STEM education initiatives in their schools.
