How are interviews being conducted?

The health and safety of our employees and their families, candidates and visitors to our sites remains a top priority. As such, phone and video interviews are our current standard for interviews.

Some positions may require an in-person interview. If so, CDC recommendations are adhered to, including wearing masks, social distancing, etc.

 

I recently accepted a job offer, what should I expect during the onboarding process?

Ingalls Shipbuilding is working to process background investigations on a timely basis, utilizing scheduled appointments for physical agility, drug screen, and physicals at our onsite career site. Candidates are required to wear masks and observe social distancing during any visit to the career site.

Newport News Shipbuilding is working with our vendors to process background investigations as timely as possible, and a limited number of onsite drug screen and physical appointments are available each week at our onsite Clinic. Candidates are required to wear masks during their Clinic appointments.

Technical Solutions is working with our vendors to process background investigations as timely as possible. Most of our drug screen vendors are accepting appointments for pre-employment screenings.

 

I was recently hired and am moving to a new location for my role. Will local quarantine orders affect my employment?

Due to COVID-19, several national, state, and local governments have issued mandatory quarantine orders. If you are moving to a location with a mandatory quarantine order in effect, you are expected to comply with such order. Your Talent Acquisition partner will provide guidance on your situation and share any required next steps.

 

I recently received a start date. Will orientation follow CDC recommendations/precautions to prevent the spread of COVID-19?

Ingalls Shipbuilding is conducting smaller multiple in-person orientation and virtual orientation sessions for salaried and trades new hires observing proper social distancing. New hires are also required to complete a physical and health questionnaire as part of the process prior to attending orientation. Masks are required by all participants during orientation.

Newport News Shipbuilding – effective August 2, 2021, anyone at NNS, regardless of vaccination status, will be required to wear masks while indoors, or in covered facilities. Unvaccinated personnel will continue to wear masks indoors and outdoors. More information on mask wearing guidelines will be provided at orientation. CDC and social distancing guidelines will be in place. The orientation space will be sanitized.

Technical Solutions is conducting both in-person and virtual New Hire Orientation. For in person orientation all visitors will be subject to a COVID-19 pre-screening prior to entry and will participate exercising proper social distancing, and are required to wear a mask at all times.

Technical Solutions is adhering to CDC guidance on ensuring company work spaces are cleaned, provide cleaning stations throughout work areas in TSD office and/or building for employee use, and ensure all visitors are subject to pre-screening requirements, prior to entry into a TSD office and/or building. TSD’s Crisis Management Team coordinates communications on COVID-19 incidents and workforce exposure, contact tracing, and criteria for return to work requirements. TSD offers teleworking opportunities to employees that can effectively perform their jobs remote.
